TEXT: HABKAKKUK 3:17-19
SUBJ."I STILL OWE GOD PRAISE"
THE NAME OF HABKAKKUK MEANS: ONE WHO EMBRACES: OR TO CLING TO!
HABKAKKUK WHO SERVES AS THE 4TH OUT OF GODS 11 MINOR PROPHETS.
HERE IN THE THIRD CHAPTER WE FIND HABAKKUK'S PRAYER OF PRAISE!
THE FIRST PART OF THIS FOUR PART PRAYER DEALS WITH GOD'S MERCY! VS. 1-2
THE PSALMIST DAVID SAID IT BEST IN THE 23RD PSALMS AND THE 6TH VERSE:
SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY SHALL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE AND I’LL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER!
THEN THE SECOND PART OF THIS PRAYER THE PROPHET DEALS WITH: THE GLORY OF THE PERSON OF GOD! VS.3-4 ONCE AGAIN DAVID COMES TO US IN THE 24TH PSALM VERSES 7-10:
LIFT UP YOUR HEAD, O YE GATES; AND BE YE LIFTED UP, YE EVERLASTING DOORS; AND THE KING OF GLORY SHALL COME IN.
WHO IS THE KING OF GLORY? THE LORD STRONG AND MIGHTY, THE LORD MIGHTY IN BATTLE.
LIFT UP YOUR HEADS, O YE GATES; EVEN LIFT THEM UP, YE EVERLASTING DOORS; AND THE KING OF GLORY SHALL COME IN.
WHO IS THE KING OF GLORY? THE LORD OF HOSTS HE IS THE KING OF GLORY.
THEN IN THE 3RD PART OF THIS PRAYER VS. 3-15 DEALS WITH THE POWER OF GOD’S SAVING ACTS:
IN THE BOOK OF ROMANS THE APOSTLE PAUL DEALS WITH THE POWER OF GOD SAVING ACTS.
FOR IN ROMANS 1:16: FOR I AM NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST: FOR IT IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION TO EVERY ONE THAT BELIEVETH; TO THE JEW FIRST, AND ALSO TO THE GREEK.
AND THEN HERE IN THE FOURTH AND FINAL PART THIS PRAYER WHERE WE WILL DROP ANCHOR FOR A FEW MOMENTS OF YOUR TIME.
FOR THE PROPHET HERE IN THE 17TH VERSE ACKNOWLEDGES THE ECONOMICAL PROBLEMS OF HIS TIME. FOR HERE IN HIS PRAYER HE IS SAYING: GOD I REALIZE THAT:
THE FIG TREE ISN'T BLOSSOMING AND NO FRUIT IS ON THE VINE. AND THAT EVEN THOUGH THE OLIVE CROP FAILS, AND THE FIELDS LIE EMPTY AND BARREN. EVEN THOUGH THE FLOCKS DIE IN THE FIELD AND THE CATTLE BARNS ARE EMPTY.
WHAT HE IS SAYING IS THAT I SEE THAT EVERYTHING IS GOING WRONG.
BUT HERE IN THE 18TH VERSE HE SAYS:
I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD! I WILL JOY IN THE GOD OF MY SALVATION.
WHAT HABAKKUK WAS SAYING “I STILL OWE GOD PRAISE!"
IT LOOKS BAD RIGHT NOW BUT I STILL OWE GOD PRAISE!
THEN HE CONCLUDES HIS PRAYER BY SAYING THAT:
THE SOVEREIGN LORD IS MY STRENGTH! HE WILL MAKE ME AS SURE FOOTED AS A DEER AND BE BRING ME SAFELY OVER THE MOUNTAINS.
I KNOW THAT IT LOOKS BAD RIGHT NOW IN OUR ECONOMY BUT WE STILL OWE GOD PRAISE!
The fact that God has allowed us to live long enough to see our first African American president we certainly we “Still Owe God Praise!”
I know is these tough times it may be hard to find a job but we “Still Owe God Praise!”
Is there anybody here on today that agree with me that we “Still Owe God Praise!”
